Oh, How Exciting!
“Oh, How Exciting!” Is what I imagine Danielle’s mother’s reaction would be to the past two weeks. Saying it with a tone of optimism but acknowledging the difficulties posed ahead. I feel about the same way. The move to CA has been a game of patience for the past year but recently three big steps took place. I took a trip to LA, Danielle gave her notice of leave, and I gave my last day. First things first.
As you may know last Sunday morning I got back from a week long trip to LA. I flew out there for a solo week long trip to survey the city and check out apartments. The good news is that the apartments are very similarly priced to where we are living now… in fact I think we can move in to a place for a couple hundred a month less! It’ll take a little more looking because although available those places are usually rented by owners. Danielle and I have enjoyed living at Avalon where we have workout facilities and stuff but I with the weather and money being tight I can easily pass that up.
While I was in CA I stayed with a good college buddy and his wife, Joel and Amy. I had a great time hanging out with them in the afternoon. I absolutely LOVE being included as family and going along for the ride, that is something I really enjoy about videographing weddings. Then on Thursday I hung out with a friend from Wildwood Summer Project 2003. Josh, my friend showed me around Hollywood and introduced me to a lot of people that work at the Mosaic Church there in LA. Josh is currently a “protege” for Mosaic, it’s a two year deal and he doesn’t get any money! Wow! Mosaic sounds like such an interesting church that focuses on the arts. Danielle and I will be sure to visit the church when we get out there in May.
Another big thing that happened on the trip only lasted about an hour over coffee on my first day. Carin, a girl from our small group, set me up with an old friend who works in the industry named Wilson. We meet Sunday over coffee and he just talked to me about he experience, gave me advice, and offered to set me up with some work when I got out there. Wilson was incredibly gracious and I throughly enjoyed meeting him, I hope that I might get to know him better and wish him all the best. He’s got a great future ahead of him.
Now the exciting part… getting to quit our jobs! Maybe a little more exciting for me… but more on that next post.
James! I hope all is well you and yours; you’ve gotta be excited for the move. Anyway, I checked out Mosaic a few weeks ago and I was very blessed by going. I don’t know much about their doctrine, but I was really impressed…are y’all going to get plugged in there?
You write very well.
